Winter Camp To Canada In 2017
From January 28th to February 9th, 2017, 16 students experienced a wonderful journey to Canada with English teacher Mr. Zhang Xiang from our school.
Arriving at the island of Victoria, Mr. Zhang and the students were welcomed by Mr. Mark Johnson, the Deputy Director of International Department in Sooke District. The students were distributed into different host families.
For the first three days, they travelled in Vancouver, the third largest city of Canada, fascinated by the exotic views and the famous University of British Columbia.
From the fourth day, students began their study courses in Victoria. They spent the morning having ELD courses in Belmont, which is our partner of the high school program, and the afternoon enjoying various activities, including tours to University of Victoria, the Parliament Building, BC Museum, Butchart Gardens and the aquarium. Other sports such as curling, hockey and volleyball attracted the students as well.
The most unforgettable experience to the students goes to the diverse courses and open style teaching. Both cooperative learning method and the hospitable foreign classmates made their school life memorable. Pastry, bakery, carpentry, rose-making, egg painting, rock music and many other courses provide the students an opportunity to directly understand the distinction between Chinese and Canadian styles of education, which will definitely benefit them in their future.
